2019 NFL Draft Do-Overs: AFC East
By Bryan Perez
Buffalo Bills
The Bills added Florida Atlantic’s Devin Singletary in the third round and the logic behind selecting a running back at this point in the draft was sound. With aging veterans LeSean McCoy and Frank Gore on the roster, the Bills needed some youth and fresh legs on the depth chart.
But they could’ve opted for Alabama’s Damien Harris, who came off the board about a dozen picks later to the Patriots.
Harris profiles as a prototype feature back in the NFL with a size-speed combination and had success in the SEC running against some of the country’s top defenses. Singletary, on the other hand, is an undersized and slower-than-average player who, while possessing fantastic elusiveness and make-you-miss ability, may struggle to emerge as a bellcow in the pros.
Yes, the Bills needed a running back. But they missed here. Harris was the better option.
