Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals selected Washington tight end Drew Sample in the second round with the 52nd overall pick; it was one of the biggest reaches in the entire 2019 NFL draft, especially when considering other tight end options who were still on the board.

The better pick for Cincinnati, if they were dead set on selecting a tight end, would’ve been Texas A&M’s Jace Sternberger, who was drafted a few picks later by the Packers.

Sternberger is a potential seam-busting option in the passing game who possesses receiver-like traits with his soft hands and route-running ability. He would’ve been an ideal fit behind Eifert in case of an injury and, ultimately, as his replacement a year or two down the road.
