Jimmy Moreland – Redskins

The Redskins were the beneficiaries of numerous draft slides as Dwayne Haskins, Montez Sweat and Terry McLaurin all fell into their lap. At least two of those players are destined for starting roles in 2019 and they may be joined by a seventh-rounder, with Moreland making the most of his opportunities in practice.

A star of college All-Star game season, the 5’10” and 179-pound Moreland has made the jump from James Madison to the NFL look straightforward so far, logging three interceptions in one OTA practice, per Redskins.com.

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said of Moreland:

"“He has made his presence felt, without a doubt. He has a great idea of route concepts and breaking on the ball, obviously the ball skills. Yeah, he’s a fun guy to watch. I’ve been very impressed with him.”"

The Redskins’ slot corner role was occupied by Fabian Moreau last year. Moreau has also been the subject of praise from Gruden but has the size and the talent to start on the boundary.

If Moreland keeps impressing then such a move may become necessary to get this surprise offseason start on the field right away.
