Nasir Adderley, Safety, Los Angeles Chargers

Round 2 Pick 28 (Pick 60 Overall)

Nasir Adderley is another prospect that I liked a lot throughout the draft process and had a first round grade on. I like his versatility in coverage with his ability to play centerfield with good range as well as come up and play man coverage versus some slot receivers.

The Chargers got a steal with this pick. They found one superstar safety in the first round of last year’s draft in Derwin James. Los Angeles ended the season having as many as seven defensive backs on the field at the same time. That being said, none of them felt like a natural complement at safety beside James.

Adderley, on the other hand, couldn’t be a better complement to James if you created him from scratch. His coverage ability will allow James to play more of the in-the-box role that he is most comfortable.

The Chargers now have one of the best young safety tandems in the league after picking Nasir Adderley and Derwin James in the last two drafts.
