Drue Tranquill, Linebacker, Los Angeles Chargers

Round 4 Pick 28 (Pick 130 Overall)

Drue Tranquill started his college football career as a safety. Naturally, he has brought that same athleticism and solid coverage ability to the linebacker position. He is a great leader, has high football IQ, and perfectly fits today’s NFL where linebackers need to be at least solid in multiple coverages.

The Chargers had a ridiculous amount of injuries just at the linebacker position last season. That caused them to play seven defensive backs on the field out of necessity. Until it worked so well that they stuck with it. Tranquill may be a little small for the typical linebacker position, but his football IQ and coverage ability will allow him to get on the field early and often as a role player in Los Angeles.
