Rookie drafts are already taking place in dynasty leagues as the 2019 season draws closer. Here we look at the top 5 first-year options at quarterback.

Though rookies often have little value in yearly re-draft fantasy leagues, in dynasty leagues they carry immediate significance upon turning pro as team managers look to mimic those in NFL front offices and plot the best route to sustained success.

However, for those targeting a quarterback in rookie drafts this year, the pickings are somewhat slim.

Such drafts are already taking place in numerous leagues and here we look at the top five options at the quarterback position.

5. Will Grier – Carolina Panthers

It is tough to make the case for any quarterback taken outside the first two rounds as a viable dynasty option, but Grier makes the most sense as a late-round flier in rookie drafts who could work his way into a starting role.

There is a small chance Grier could start in 2019 if Cam Newton’s shoulder difficulties persist but, in a league where numerous teams are constantly seeking a solution at the game’s most important position, it is more likely one franchise eventually decides to bank on Grier reproducing what he did at West Viriginia in the pros and sends Carolina draft capital for him.

The reward may take a few seasons to materialise but, for dynasty players flush with room to stash a quarterback on the bench, playing the long game with Grier may be a wise play.
