Oregon QB Justin Herbert will enter the 2019 college football season as one of the most sought-after 2020 NFL draft prospects in the country.

The NFL Draft process is always a lot more fun when there are top-tier quarterbacks jockeying for the right to be the first overall pick, and the 2020 NFL Draft has two prospects who appear destined for a head-on collision this fall.

Oregon’s Justin Herbert and Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa are the consensus top two quarterback prospects entering the 2019 college football season. Tua has a slight edge on most draft boards right now, but Herbert’s blend of size, arm strength and above-average athletic ability will make him ust as appealing to NFL teams next spring.

According to one NFL draft insider, Herbert is entering the 2019 season as the top senior prospect in the country.

“I’m told scouts ranked Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert as the top NFL prospect from the senior class in meetings last month,” Tony Pauline tweeted. “Herbert received one of the highest grades attained by any senior from the past decade.”

Now, just because Herbert is the top senior prospect doesn’t mean he’s the top quarterback prospect. Tua will be a junior this season.

Still, there’s no denying Herbert’s immense upside as a potential franchise quarterback in the NFL. His game reminds me of a mix between Josh Allen (Bills) and Mitchell Trubisky (Bears) — for all the good and positive reasons — and both Allen and Trubisky have enjoyed early-career success so far in the pros.

Herbert completed 59.4% of his passes last season for 3,151 yards, 29 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He’s appeared in 29 games so far for the Ducks with 7,070 yards, 63 touchdowns and 17 interceptions.
