Michigan WR Nico Collins received an impressive player comp from NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah, and if it’s accurate, he’ll push for first-round consideration by the time the 2019 college season comes to an end.

The 2020 NFL draft is going to be overflowing with wide receiver talent headlined by Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy, Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb, Colorado’s Leviska Shenault and TCU’s Jalen Reagor.

But as is the case in every draft, there are players who rise up positional rankings once analysts dig deeper into the tape.

One of those players who could make a strong push up the wide receiver rankings is Michigan’s Nico Collins, who was given an impressive player comp by NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah.

“Michigan WR Nico Collins adjusts to the ball very smoothly/easily,” Jeremiah tweeted Thursday. “He’s got a huge frame and he’s a very nimble athlete. Reminds me of Allen Robinson coming out of college.”

Comparing any collegiate prospect to Robinson suggests massive NFL upside. Robinson, who’s currently the top wide receiver on the Chicago Bears, has enjoyed a high level of production since entering the league as a second-round pick from Penn State in 2014.

He set career highs in 2015 as a member of the Jaguars when he finished the year with 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Collins, who stands an estimated 6-4, 218 pounds, was an honorable mention All-Big 10 performer in 2018 when he finished the season with 38 catches for 632 yards and six touchdowns. He was named Michigan’s most improved player at year’s end.

Collins was a four-star recruit out of high school and is just beginning to scratch the surface of his overall potential. Like any receiver, he’ll be dependant on Michigan’s offense becoming more aggressive in the passing game to take advantage of all his natural traits, which is expected to occur with Shea Patterson entering his second season as the starter.
