1. Noah Fant – Denver Broncos

Joe Flacco’s triumph with the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII may be over six years ago, but for Fant’s hopes of an impressive start to his NFL career with the Denver Broncos it may be the best reference point.

The 2012 season, and specifically the playoffs, is seen as the best campaign of Flacco’s career and came in a year in which he hit tight end Dennis Pitta 61 times for 669 yards and seven touchdowns.

Flacco has not had a tight end of that quality since, but may now have one in former Iowa star Fant, whose combination of size and athleticism make him the prototypical move tight end.

Ex-teammate Hockenson was regarded as the better all-round prospect but it is Fant who is in the best situation of any rookie at the position.

Denver’s lack of depth at tight end is such that there is nobody to challenge him for the starting job, meaning Fant can expect a significant target share even with receivers Emmanuel Sanders, Courtland Sutton and DaeSean Hamilton giving Flacco plenty of pass catchers to spread the ball around to.

Fant has the physical gifts to take full advantage of a big target share for a Denver offense that should rely heavily on the tight end spot, with offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello having most recently worked under Kyle Shanahan.

Tight ends may often struggle to produce as rookies but Fant is the leading candidate to buck that trend in 2019 and should be the top target for dynasty players looking for an instant impact as well as a long-term answer at the position.
