4. What roles will receivers have?

The 2019 class was not viewed as a particularly strong one at receiver, but plenty of teams spent high picks on the position and numerous rookie wideouts will be looking to stake their claim for major roles in their respective offenses in camp.

N’Keal Harry and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside have each already made an early push for playing time by catching the eye in offseason activities but, with the Ravens’ first-round pick Marquise Brown starting camp on the NFI list and Mecole Hardman’s role with the Chiefs complicated by Tyreek Hill’s return, others face tough fights to get on the field on a regular basis.

One receiver who should not have any problems earning opportunities is D.K. Metcalf of the Seahawks, who desperately need him to add a downfield element to a receiving corps lacking in sizzle beyond Tyler Lockett. There will be significant scrutiny on Metcalf to prove he is not just a straight-line speed freak and can in fact run a more complex route tree.
