Football season is almost here. All 32 NFL teams have started training camp. Each team will be tasked with finding their best 53 players over the next few weeks in an effort to finalize their rosters for the regular season. In this series, we will try to predict which players will make each roster. Next up, the Carolina Panthers.

The Panthers were 6-2 at the halfway point of the season last year. They looked like a very good team and a legitimate contender. Then Cam Newton suffered a shoulder injury. While he played through it, he wasn’t nearly as effective. As a result, the Panthers ended with a 7-9 record.

Now Cam Newton is healthy again and the team around him looks like a contender once again. If the offensive line can improve and help keep Newton healthy throughout the whole year, the Panthers will compete for the NFC South division title and be in the playoff discussion late in the year.

Quarterbacks

  • Cam Newton
  • Taylor Heinicke
  • Will Grier

Cam Newton is one of the more unique talents in the NFL and will keep the Panthers in contention as long as he is healthy. I think the Panthers will keep two backups with Heinicke being another veteran presence and Grier being the talented backup of the future.
