Texas’ Collin Johnson dubbed best senior WR in 2020 draft class

Texas WR Collin Johnson was dubbed the top senior WR for the 2020 NFL draft by one respected draft analyst.
The 2020 NFL draft is setting up to be a special class of offensive skill players. There are legitimate first-round talents at quarterback, running back and wide receiver and several of the top players will have tough decisions to make at season’s end; many of them are underclassmen.
But there’s one senior wide receiver prospect who has a chance to emerge as a first-round pick if he strings together a dominant final season: Collin Johnson (Texas).
Johnson possesses a rare physical makeup at 6-6 and 220 pounds. He’ll end up adding a few more pounds to his frame over time and as his body continues to develop, he’ll be a walking mismatch in the NFL
According to the Athletic’s Dane Brugler, Johnson is the top senior at his position entering the 2019 college football season.
Brugler tweeted a clip of Johnson making a ridiculous one-handed catch during a practice session in 2018. “The 2020 class of WRs is really impressive and Johnson is the top senior WR at this point in the process,” Brugler wrote.
In any other draft year, Johnson would appear like a lock for the top 32. This year’s class is different, however. There are high-end players like Jerry Jeudy (Alabama), CeeDee Lamb (Oklahoma), Laviska Shenault (Colorado), and Jalen Reagor (TCU) all with first-round ability and the potential to have even bigger seasons than Johnson in 2019.
Johnson finished 2018 with career highs in receptions and yardage, totaling 68 catches for 985 yards and nine touchdowns. He should benefit from more consistent quarterback play in 2019 and is in line for his first 1,000-yard season. If he finishes with strong numbers and performs well at the Senior Bowl and NFL Combine, he’ll leapfrog some of the smaller underclassmen currently slotted ahead of him.
