The NFL’s preseason schedule kicks into gear this week, here we look at five under-the-radar rookies who are worthy of close scrutiny.

After the rookies of the Atlanta Falcons and Denver Broncos got their first taste of NFL action in the Hall of Fame Game, the rest of the league will get to see their draft picks debut as preseason kicks into gear.

Second overall pick Nick Bosa will miss the preseason because of an ankle sprain, while much of the focus will be on first overall selection Kyler Murray and the likes of Daniel Jones and Dwayne Haskins.

Though the quarterbacks and first-round choices will capture much of the attention, there are numerous mid to late-round picks and undrafted players who will be looking to secure roles on their respective teams with strong exhibition seasons.

Here we look at five under-the-radar rookies to watch in preseason.

Tony Pollard

With Ezekiel Elliott holding out, fourth-round running back Pollard has received first-team reps in camp and will likely get the start when the Cowboys visit the 49ers on Saturday.

Though the wider NFL world may not know much about Pollard, the former Memphis Tiger has been the talk of the Cowboys’ training camp in Oxnard.

Quarterback Dak Prescott labeled Pollard as the “one of the most exciting players to me of this training camp” and, having won the admiration of his teammates, he will get the chance to announce himself on the NFL stage at Levi’s Stadium.
