Dre Greenlaw

Among those on the 49ers defense out to limit Pollard’s influence on their exhibition opener will be fifth-round linebacker Greenlaw, who has been a surprise standout during camp for San Francisco.

Greenlaw has consistently practiced on the first-team defense and has caught the eye with his ability to knife into the backfield and make plays in coverage.

The ex-Arkansas Razorback is in competition with Malcolm Smith and Elijah Lee for the starting SAM linebacker role and a strong performance against the Cowboys could be the first step towards securing the job.
