2019 Fantasy football: Six Rookie sleepers to target
Jakobi Meyers – New England Patriots
Who said Bill Belichick had a blindspot for evaluating wide receivers?
The Patriots look to have unearthed a gem in Meyers, whose preseason debut saw him make six catches for 69 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Since that stunning debut, Meyers has continued to dominate in practice, and Kevin Duffy of The Boston Herald wrote:
"“Meyers is making the team. It’s just a matter of how big his role will be.”"
At 6’2″ and 200 pounds, Meyers is a great candidate to fill the big slot role that is becoming more prevalent in the modern NFL.
If he does occupy that position, Meyers could well assume a lot of the 72 targets vacated by the retired Rob Gronkowski, with the Patriots having struggled to find a replacement for the tight end.
Meyers has already shown he deserves a decent target share and, though preseason exploits do not always translate to regular-season success, the former NC State wideout has proven himself worthy of being stashed on a bench, especially in PPR leagues.
