2019 Fantasy football: Six Rookie sleepers to target
Devin Singletary – Buffalo Bills
The Bills spent a third-round pick on Singletary despite already having LeSean McCoy and Frank Gore in the backfield. The former Florida Atlantic star and he began to justify their faith in him in their preseason opener.
Singletary ran very well between the tackles as he put up 27 yards on nine carries and also demonstrated his upside in the receiving game with 21 yards on three receptions.
With his elusiveness and contact balance, Singletary has the look of a McCoy replacement and the opportunity to fill his boots could yet come this season.
The Bills can save over $6million against the cap by cutting or trading McCoy, per Over The Cap.
Parting with a running back of McCoy’s pedigree may seem a bold move but, after averaging only 3.2 yards per carry last season, the 31-year-old is on the downswing of his career.
It would, therefore, be no surprise to see McCoy’s Bills tenure come to an end before or during the season. Buffalo’s backfield is a tough one to predict. However, an astute fantasy player should have an eye on drafting Singletary in the hope McCoy departs and the rookie steps into a role in which he would have the chance to put up significant numbers.
