These 2020 NFL draft prospects have a chance to become All-Americans
By Seth Steere
Defense
Defensive Line: AJ Epenesa, Iowa; Jabari Zuniga, Florida; Derrick Brown, Auburn; Chase Young, Ohio State
Epenesa and Young are already fighting for the right to be named the top prospect in the class and are consistently among the first few names on draft analysts’ big boards. Zuniga’s off to a hot start after registering 1.5 sacks against Miami while Browncontemplated entering the draft last season and received several first-round grades.
Linebackers: Tipa Galeai, Utah State; Dylan Moses, Alabama; Isaiah Simmons, Clemson
Galeai finished last season with 10 sacks, and in a pass-heavy conference (Mountain West) he should continue to build on that number. Arguably the best linebacker on Alabama last season, Moses looks to lead the Crimson Tide to another playoff appearance.
Defensive Backs: Bryce Hall, Virginia; Xavier McKinney, Alabama; Grant Delpit, LSU; Paulson Adebo, Stanford; Kristian Fulton, LSU
Fulton and Hall decided to come back for their senior seasons despite having the opportunity to be high picks in last year’s draft. Adebo is only a redshirt sophomore but oozes talent and has all the intangibles. The last Alabama player to make the list, McKinney is one of the more elite safeties in coverage. Delpit has already proven to be All-American caliber and will do it again in 2019.
Special Teams
Kicker: Rodrigo Blankenship, Georgia
Blankenship has made 83% of all his kicks and has yet to miss an extra point in his entire career.
Punter: Tommy Townsend, Florida
Townsend’s ability was on display in week 0 for the Gators, netting 44.7 yards on all 3 of his punts in the game against Miami, as well as converting a first down on a run.
All-Purpose: Jalen Reagor, TCU; Leviska Shenault Jr., Colorado
Reagor is one of the fastest players in the country, making him a nightmare on both offense and in the return game. Shenault is a swiss army knife for Colorado, lining up anywhere from wide receiver to quarterback.
