Predicting the Eagles’ 53-man roster
In this 53-man roster series, we will try to predict which players will make every team’s final squad. Next up, the Philadelphia Eagles.
Multiple key injuries caused the Eagles to largely struggle through the season last year after winning the Super Bowl in 2017. They were still able to find a way to sneak into the playoffs and actually win a Wildcard game with backup Nick Foles at quarterback.
Nick Foles is now in Jacksonville as the starting quarterback there which puts more pressure on Carson Wentz to finally stay healthy through an entire season. If he can do that, this is the most talented and deepest team in the NFL and are legitimate Super Bowl contenders once again.
Quarterbacks
- Carson Wentz
- Josh McCown
Carson Wentz has looked to be fully healthy this preseason from knee and back injuries he has suffered the past couple of years. He still has the ability to play at an MVP-type level if he can stay healthy. Multiple injuries to the backups this preseason caused the Eagles to talk well-traveled super-backup Josh McCown out of retirement. It also isn’t out of the question for the Eagles to keep 3 quarterbacks this season as extra insurance to another Carson Wentz injury.
