2019 Heisman Trophy Watch: Week 6
Last week: BYE
Season Stats: 113-for-148 (76.4%)| 1,718 yards| 23 TD| 0 INT| 16 rushes| 45 yards| 2 TD
Tua Tagovailoa has probably had the quietest, most insane start to a season in recent memory. Despite have a BYE last week, Tagovailoa has the fourth-most passing yards, the most passing touchdowns, and the second-highest quarterback rating in the country. All that, and he is arguably the least talked about in the Heisman race.
Some analysts and fans take away from Tagovailoa’s game due to the NFL-level supporting cast he has around him. That’s doing the quarterback a severe disservice, however. He wins with very good football IQ, good arm talent, and solid athleticism. There is a reason he is considered the leader for the number one overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. And it’s not because of his supporting cast.
Tagovailoa and the Crimson Tide will return to action this week when they travel to Texas A&M to take on the Aggies in a sneaky tough conference battle.
