2019 Heisman Trophy Watch: Week 8
Last week at Northwestern: 18-for-23 (78.3%)| 194 yards| 4 TD| 0 INT| 6 rushes| 8 yards| 0 TD
Season Stats: 116-for-164 (70.7%)| 1,492 yards| 22 TD| 1 INT| 63 rushes| 291 yards| 8 TD
As stated earlier, it was largely a quietly explosive night for the Ohio State offense against Northwestern. Justin Fields’ stat line was the perfect example of that as he failed to crack 200 yards passing and was bottled up as a rusher, but still accounted for four touchdowns.
And, more importantly, he was the main reason for the Buckeye’s convincing win. While Fields’ season yardage totals leave a little bit to be desired, he is among the nation’s leaders in total touchdowns. That alone will keep him the conversation as a true contender for the Heisman Trophy.
Fields will lead his undefeated Buckeyes against the no. 13-ranked Wisconsin Badgers in a big conference bout this weekend. He has a very good chance to improve his standings in the Heisman race with strong showings over the next couple weeks with Tua Tagovailoa out due to injury.
