Unfortunately, injuries are a part of the game of football. And unfortunately, an ankle injury may have just cause Tua Tagovailoa a chance to win the Heisman Trophy for the second year in a row. Last year, he struggled at the end of the year with an ankle injury that forced him out of the conference championship, and allowed Kyler Murray to steal the award.

Now, he suffers a similar injury versus Tennessee that is likely to keep him out a couple of weeks. He was having an excellent game at the time of the injury, too, as he had over 150 yards and his only incompletion was an unfortunate interception when he went down in the second quarter.

Despite undergoing surgery on the ankle over the weekend, Tagovailoa has indicated he will be back in time for the showdown with LSU on November 9th. That would mean he would only miss this week’s game against Arkansas. If that ends up being the case, Tagovailoa will still have a realistic shot at claiming the Heisman Trophy in December. If he misses multiple games, however, it will be hard for him to reclaim the lead for the Heisman with the way Jalen Hurts and Joe Burrow are playing. Either way, hopefully Tagovailoa is back quickly. College football is better when he is on the field.
