Tua Tagovailoa returned to action over the weekend for the biggest game of the year versus LSU after missing multiple weeks with an ankle injury that required surgery. You could tell he was a little bit rusty with a bad fumble and interception early in the game. He eventually got back into the rhythm of the game and nearly led the Crimson Tide back for the win. Despite the ankle clearly bothering him in the second half, Tagovailoa was still able to throw for over 400 yards and four touchdowns on the day. While he was outdueled by fellow Heisman contending quarterback Joe Burrow, Tua showed why he is a top prospect for the 2020 NFL Draft throughout the game.
Tagovailoa will look to lead Alabama back into the win column this weekend when the Crimson Tide travel to Starkville to take on Mississippi State. While not completely out of the race, Tagovailoa will have to finish the season very strong in order to have a real shot at winning the Heisman Trophy this season.
