If Joe Burrow does end up finishing the season strong and winning the Heisman Trophy, his performance in Week 11 against Alabama will be the one we look back on as the performance that clinched it for him. He was magnificent on Saturday throwing for nearly 400 yards and three touchdowns while also being a menace on the ground as a runner. Maybe the most impressive part of his performance was how he never got flustered or caught up in the moment. Even when Alabama was making a bid for the comeback in the fourth quarter, Burrow calmly led his team down the field for the game-clinching touchdown. Not only did this performance make him the clear front-runner for the Heisman Trophy, but he has now set himself up nicely to be the top overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
LSU and Joe Burrow will look to avoid a letdown despite a fairly easy and reasonable schedule throughout the rest of the season. That starts this weekend with a trip to take on the Rebels of Mississippi. At this point, the 2019 Heisman Trophy is Joe Burrow’s to lose.
