Browns 7 round mock draft after Thursday night win vs. Steelers
By Cory Kinnan
At this point we are getting into depth for the Browns as they do not have too many holes to fill outside of the trenches and at the safety position. Here they get a luxury pick and bring in Notre Dame’s Khalid Kareem with their fifth round pick.
While Myles Garrett and Olivier Vernon have been two of the highest graded defensive players for the Browns’ defense on a consistent basis, they are left with just Chad Thomas behind them. While Thomas has climbed his way out of the bust ranking, he has not done anything that makes anyone think he is more than a rotational piece.
After trading away both Emmanuel Ogbah and Genard Avery within the past year, the Browns have created a depth issue off the edge defensively. Kareem, who just accepted his Senior Bowl invite, would be another piece of the depth puzzle at the position in Cleveland. At 6-4 and 265 pounds, Kareem is the larger build that Wilks likes, who can set the edge and play the run defensively.
After a double-digit sack season a year ago, Kareem is having another nice season in 2019 as he currently has seven and a half sacks and four and a half tackles for loss for the Fighting Irish. He goes from green and gold to brown and orange here in the fifth round.
