As Alabama football was again rolling today, starting quarterback and potential first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Tua Tagovailoa, was hurt again.

In what was a brilliant start for Alabama football and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa today against the Mississippi State Bulldogs has taken a dark turn. In the second quarter of the game with the Crimson Tide up 35-7, Tagovailoa, the potential top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, took a massive hit and could be seen writhing in pain; as it looks now, Tua suffered an injury to his right hip and could be heard screaming in pain.

Before sustaining this hip injury in the second quarter, Tua Tagovailoa was 14 of 18 passing for 256 yards, two touchdowns, and no turnovers as Alabama football is dominating Mississippi State. Hopefully this is not as bad as it looks for Tagovailoa and the fifth ranked Alabama football team as it has potential to end not only the quarterback’s season, but the Crimson Tide’s as well.

On the season, Tagovailoa has tallied nearly 2,600 yards passing and 31 touchdowns while completing over 70 percent of his passes and throwing only three interceptions. The talent is obviously there for Tua, but are his injuries becoming a concern?

This is Tagovailoa’s second injury this season, and his third in two season; at what point does Tua’s inability to stay healthy impact his standing with NFL teams and his draft stock? If this injury is a season ending one, does Tua lose any hope of becoming the first pick in the draft and potentially drop out of the top five of the draft altogether?

Wishing Tagovailoa the best, it may be in his best interest to go the route that Nick Bosa went a year ago with Ohio State and sit out the rest of the season regardless and train for the 2020 NFL Draft. With a massive paycheck waiting for him, it no longer seems necessary for Tua to continue to put his body on the line for free.
