Scouting Report
While linebackers are not high priority positions at the next level, there were two taken in the top ten of last year’s draft in Devin White and Devin Bush. It would be a massive injustice to put Oklahoma football linebacker Kenneth Murray in the same category as White and Bush were in a year ago, he looks like an absolute day-two pick at this point in the 2019 season.
Murray has shown the versatility to play the run, while also disguising himself on blitzes as well over his three year career to this point. In three seasons as a significant contributor to the Sooners’ defense, Murray has tallied a total of 27 tackles for loss and eight sacks from the second level of the Oklahoma football team and their defense.
Last year he posted elite solo tackle numbers as well with 71, but his solo tackle share is down a bit this year with only 37 through nine games in 2019. He has, however, hit a career high in passes defended with three as he looks to strengthen his draft profile by displaying three different elements of his game.
It will be an interesting decision for Murray to make after the season ends as his numbers are down a little from his sophomore year, but has put together solid film. Will he stay for his senior year or will he head to the next level via the 2020 NFL Draft?
