STOCK DOWN

In a potentially devastating twist, Tua Tagovailoa is out for the season with a hip fracture, an injury that could have long term repercussions on his health. The dual-sport Bo Jackson had his career ended on a hip fracture that led to further complications; while Tua is not quite on that level of misfortune, the status of Tua for the future has yet to be determined.

This is also Tua’s second injury this season, and third in the past two years raising quite a red flag to future NFL teams about his durability. While we wish Tua all the best in his recovery, the pile of injuries that he has sustained cannot be overlooked when discussing his status in the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft.

A Heisman Trophy finalist from a year ago, Tagovailoa was on pace to get back to New York this year as he has thrown for 2,840 yards and 33 touchdowns for the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2019. He was also completing 71 percent of his passes and had thrown just three interceptions as well.

In a battle with LSU’s Burrow, it is now unlikely to see a team take a risk on Tua with the first overall pick moving forward. Hopefully Tua is healthy by the time the pre-draft cycle rolls around so that he has a chance to prove to teams he is still worthy of a pricey investment.
