STOCK UP

We end with Oregon’s Justin Herbert, who entered the weekend deadlocked with Burrow as QB1 on this writer’s big board. While both Herbert and Burrow played well in week 12, Herbert put on an absolute show over Arizona in the Ducks’ 34-6 win. Oregon has now won nine straight games after dropping the season opener to Auburn.

Throwing for 333 yards and four touchdowns, Herbert finished the game completing over 71 percent of his passes and throwing just one pick. The senior quarterback, who probably would have been QB1 had he come out for the draft a year ago, has all of the physical and mental tools that an NFL team looks for in franchise leaders.

With big time arm strength, Herbert was dropping dimes down the field all game against the Wildcat defense. On the year now, Herbert has thrown for nearly 2,900 yards and 28 touchdowns while completing nearly 70 percent of his passes and throwing only three interceptions.

The Ducks are now firmly in position to play themselves into the fourth seed, should things bounce their way, despite the week one loss to Auburn. They currently sit at number six in the country and firmly in the driver’s seat for the Pac-12 title. Do not be surprised to see Herbert enter the conversation for the top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
