Scouting Report

Tua Tagovailoa’s injury history has become a massive red flag after he sustained a severe hip fracture to add on top of his repeat ankle injury. If this writer were an NFL general manager, there would be extreme hesitancy to pull the trigger on Tua with an early pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Tagovailoa finds himself in an odd predicament: he has nothing else to prove at the college level as he was on pace for a second straight trip to New York after finishing as the runner up behind Kyler Murray for the Heisman Trophy a year ago. Yet, at the same time, how else can Tua prove that he can endure the punishment that a quarterback at the next level will inevitably take?

Tua is a joy to watch when he is on the field, as he has great ball placement and accuracy at every level of the field, but the question now has to be asked: can he stay on the field? Tagovailoa will still be a first round pick in the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft, but his status as the top pick in the draft now looks extremely doubtful.

Taking a chunk off of his scouting report due to the injury red flag, Tua comes in as the fourth overall quarterback on the list.
