Heisman Trophy watch week 12: Joe Burrow shines, Tua Tagovailoa hurt
Last week at Rutgers: 15-for-19 (78.9%)| 305 yards| 4 TD| 0 INT| 3 rushes| 30 yards| 0 TD
Season Stats: 159-for-230 (69.1%)| 2,164 yards| 31 TD| 1 INT| 84 rushes| 377 yards| 10 TD
Ohio State put together another all-around dominant performance over the weekend against conference doormat Rutgers. Justin Fields had arguably his best game of the year against the Scarlet Knights. And that’s saying something considering the type of year Fields has enjoyed so far. He eclipsed the 300 yard passing mark for the first time this season while also accounting for four touchdowns through the air.
He accomplished all that on just 19 passes on the afternoon. On the season, Fields has now accounted for an impressive 41 total touchdowns. That is good for tied for second in all of college football with the man who happens to lead the Heisman race at the moment. If Fields can continue to score at this rate and keep Ohio State at the forefront of the Playoff race, he will have a legit chance at winning the Heisman Trophy.
Too bad he is not draft eligible this year, because it would be a ton of fun to watch Fields play at the next level. I guess we will have to watch the Buckeye quarterback dominate the Big Ten for one more year instead.
Justin Fields and Ohio State will have arguably their toughest test of the season this weekend when they host 9th-ranked Penn State. The Buckeyes will then close out the regular season with “The Game” at Michigan.
