Derrick Brown. 9. player. 32. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. IDL. Auburn

With the ninth pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals select Derrick Brown, interior defensive lineman, Auburn.

Over the past few weeks, Auburn defensive tackle Derrick Brown has been making his case as the best player in this year’s 2020 NFL Draft class. While he has to go through guys like Chase Young and Andrew Thomas to win that right, Brown continues to impress on a weekly basis for Auburn.

This feels like a slam dunk for the Cardinals as Brown has a rare combination of size and speed, and flashes elite technique as he continues to blow up backfield after backfield. So far on the season, the 6-5 and 318 pound Brown has recorded four sacks and eight tackles behind the line of scrimmage for the Auburn Tigers as he continues to be disruptive.

In an ideal world, Tristan Wirfs would fall into the lap of the Cardinals here, who desperately need help along their offensive front. However he was gone by the time the fifth pick in the draft rolled around, so they had to go elsewhere. Why not take one of the best players available in the draft and fill a position of need as well in Brown?
