17. player. Pick Analysis. Washington. Jacob Eason. 35. Scouting Report. QB

With the seventeenth pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select Jacob Eason, quarterback, Washington.

The Marcus Mariota era has ended in Nashville, Tennessee, and the Ryan Tannehill era is only but a stop gap until the Titans land their next quarterback. Here they attempt to do so by selecting Washington quarterback Jacob Eason with their first round pick.

The Titans have an elite defense, and they have playmakers all on the offensive side of the ball as well, however they have been constantly plagued by inconsistent quarterback play. Eason brings strong mechanics, good pocket presence, and a cannon of an arm to the Titans via the 17th pick here.

While Eason has some touch and accuracy issues to work out, the Titans should not feel the need to start him day one and keep Tannehill as a bridge quarterback if necessary. All of the physical tools that NFL teams long for in a quarterback, Eason has; it is now just a matter of figuring out how to most efficiently wield those tools.

However, as raw as Eason is now, he is still a better option under center than Marcus Mariota has been for the Titans. Here they land the Georgia transfer turned Washington starter Eason at the midway point of the first round as Tua Tagovailoa is still on the board.
