Scouting Report

A year ago, Penn State wide receiver K.J. Hamler torched the Ohio State defense on a massive 93 yard touchdown. This season he has done more of the same in the first ten games for the Nittany Lions; it is a good thing Ohio State has all of those talented defensive backs, because Hamler is a handful.

So far this season, Hamler has recorded 791 yards receiving and eight touchdowns; he is averaging a whopping 17 yards per reception as well. This is an increase from his numbers a year ago where he tallied 754 yards receiving and five touchdowns.

In a league where speed and agility is earning the precedence at the wide receiver position, Hamler has the potential to sneak into the first round by the time the draft rolls around. He looks like a top-60 pick regardless, as both Mecole Hardman and Andy Isabella went in the second round last year and have a similar play style to Hamler.

Small in stature at 5-9 and 176 pounds, Hamler is a home run threat every time he touches the football, and the Buckeyes must be keyed in on him in Saturday’s game and know where he is at all times. With the gear towards speed in the NFL, Hamler is an intriguing 2020 NFL Draft prospect to keep an eye on.
