Scouting Report

A massive amount of sorrow needs to be expressed to the Penn State offensive line as they will have the task of taking on Chase Young in his first game back from his suspension. Ranked as the top player on this writer’s big board, Young is worthy of the first overall pick even though a quarterback will more than likely receive that honor.

Making one thing clear: Young’s suspension for taking money from a family friend to fly his girlfriend to the Rose Bowl last year will have zero bearing on his draft stock in the eyes of NFL scouts and general managers. Luckily for the Buckeyes, he missed just the Maryland and Rutgers games and will be back for Penn State, Michigan, the potential Big Ten title game, and potentially the College Football Playoffs.

In just eight games this season, Young has tallied 13.5 sacks and 15.5 tackles behind the line of scrimmage for the Buckeyes; this makes it back to back years that Young has hit double digit sacks. Young has also forced a massive total of five forced fumbles as well and had his best game of the season against Wisconsin where he tallied four sacks on the day.

He’ll be hard to miss, but keep an eye out for number 2 on the Ohio State defense. Young has potential to be the top rated prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft, even if it is unlikely that he gets picked first overall.
