WR. Baylor. Denzel Mims. 5. player. Pick Analysis. 860. Scouting Report

When talking about NFL prospects on the Baylor roster, the conversation clearly starts with wide receiver Denzel Mims. He easily has the most NFL potential on the roster and shows it week in and week out. He is the leading receiver for the Bears with 50 catches, over 700 yards, and 10 touchdowns.

Mims is at his best as a downfield threat due to his excellent straight-line track speed. He constantly puts stress on defensive backs just with his threat of going deep. He is a solid route runner who can drop his hips to make sharp cuts and uses good acceleration to gain separation out of his breaks. If there is one thing Mims needs to improve, however, it would be his upper body strength and ability to handle pressure from more physical defenders.

Mims will need to have a big day against the Longhorns’ young cornerbacks if the Bears look to get back to their winning ways. This likely includes a few catches and finding the endzone at least once in the game. It will be fun watching the explosive receivers, Mims and Duvernay, go back and forth throughout the game.
