Scouting Report

Kristian Fulton doesn’t play a flashy brand of football, nor does he come with flashy traits that jump off the page. His style of play is simply eliminating one half of the field because of how sticky he is in coverage. His press-man skills are textbook due to his ability to mirror receivers without opening the gate and giving free releases.

He consistently matches route patterns down field without allowing separation from his coverage. He is a very disciplined player who keys his eyes into the hips of the wide receiver when tasked with man coverage. His good hip fluidity when playing man to man allows him to stay in phase on all routes despite not having very good straight-line speed.

He uses very good mental processing in zone coverage to leverage routes and find the football. Fulton puts together consistent lockdown performances due to his ability to be technically sound from the line of scrimmage and having great football IQ to keep him ahead of the game as a zone defender.

The smoothness to his game will make teams trust him as a guy who can play on an island and compete on throws all day with tight coverage. He will have to do well enough at the combine to quiet concerns about his overall athleticism but his tape is outstanding. A very good prospect, Fulton has the ability to sneak into the top 10 of the 2020 NFL Draft due to him being a guy who comes with a high floor as a safe pick.
