Scouting Report

Gross-Matos may not have received the same attention as the aforementioned Young, but he stood out frequently against a solid Ohio State offensive line. Gross-Matos finished with five tackles and 2 sacks, proving to be readily disruptive on each down. His length is an obvious asset but the EDGE player uses elite athleticism to turn the corner and counter inside with urgency.

Gross-Matos demonstrated several times on film that he can convert speed to power, but also be active with his hands to create opportunities to shed blockers even when they mirror him well enough. Pro Football Network draft analyst Tony Pauline believes Gross-Matos would be a first-rounder for the 2020 NFL Draft and recently mocked Gross-Matos to be taken around the early 20s of the first round. His stock could certainly be motivation to declare.

Scouting Report

No one helped themselves more than Lamont Wade. The junior safety had himself an exceptional day on Saturday demonstrating high football intelligence to put him in place for multiple big plays. Wade’s final stat line was astounding: 10 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, a sack, 3 forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. All three forced fumbles came against Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields. The first was a score-stopping fumble right before Fields crossed the goal line. The next fumble led to a Penn State field goal, and the one after that forced Ohio State to punt.

When considering he did this against a stellar Ohio State offense and seemed to make plays just when his team needed it, Wade certainly catapulted his stock to be one of the rising potential safeties in this year’s draft class. Should he declare, Wade will be a name to monitor for the 2020 NFL Draft.
