Scouting Report

Hamler is a speedy playmaker that can accelerate on a dime. He’s known as a deep threat and kick return threat because of these traits. But none of that was on display much against Ohio State. Hamler finished with 3 catches for 45 yards for a solid 15-yards per catch average but did little else to help improve Penn State’s chances of winning the football game.

Considering Hamler is already undersized being listed at 5’9” and 176 pounds, he has more to do to overcome what’s already a crowded wide receiver class in the 2020 NFL Draft. Even with the quarterback position suffering for Penn State, Hamler did not establish himself as a threat that could turn the tide. He’s yet to declare, but it would be ill-advised at this point.

Scouting Report

Justin Fields is not eligible for the 2020 NFL Draft, but being a quarterback means eyes are always on. This game was an efficient one from a passing standpoint, and Fields demonstrated solid ball placement all game. But fumbling three times is concerning and will no doubt be a note for his evaluations in the future.

It will also put a damper on Fields’ resume for what has been a remarkable season for the Heisman race. While he’s been a dominant playmaker at quarterback boasting a 33:1 touchdown to interception ratio, his fumbles nearly ruined what should’ve been a blowout victory for Ohio State. That’s enough to push him down and away from the Heisman front runners.
