Some people simply call the Heisman Trophy the “Best Player on the Best Team Award.” While that statement could be used to describe Joe Burrow this year, that doesn’t fully encapsulate just how good he has been in 2019. In the last game against Arkansas, he yet again piled up over 300 yards passing and multiple touchdowns.
This season there is only two games he didn’t throw for over 300 yards and only one single game in which he didn’t throw for multiple touchdowns. All that translates into a year in which Burrow is amongst the Top Two in basically every single statistical category for quarterbacks.
Joe Burrow is also third in the nation in total touchdowns this season as well. Perhaps even more impressively, Burrow has helped lead LSU to an undefeated season so far and the number one ranking in the College Football Playoff rankings against what is one of the tougher schedules faced by a team this season.
Burrow and the Tigers will look to keep their great season going this weekend when they host a tough Texas A&M team on Saturday. Burrow will then get one more chance to impress Heisman voters in the SEC Conference Championship game against Georgia on December 7th. It would take something truly unforeseen at this point for Joe Burrow to not win the Heisman Trophy this year.
