Kylin Hill: A potential bellcow buried in a deep 2020 NFL Draft class
By Cory Kinnan
Hill’s best trait of all
It is understandable why Kylin Hill wants to become a battering ram at times rather than waiting for a hole to develop, and that is because he has great strength and contact balance that allow for him to create his own yards at times. His best trait, Hill plays with a low center of gravity that allow how him to leverage his strong lower body, keep his legs churning, absorb contact, and stay on his feet.
According to Mississippi State’s player profile on Hill, he is one of the conference leaders in the SEC in yards after contact, which is completely believable once you watch even a hint of his tape. In the clip below from the 2018 season against the National Champion runner-up Alabama Crimson Tide, Hill is able to find a small lane before being gobbled up, or so it seemed. He is able to take the contact, spin out and pick up a large chunk of additional yardage.
With J.K. Dobbins of Ohio State, Hill has some of the best contact balance in this class, and is not only a great open field runner, but also is a threat downhill. He excels at eating up contact and churning forward for additional yardage as he is a tough, gritty runner.
