Scouting Report

Aiyuk has put together a really good season that has boosted his draft stock and has gained a lot of steam here in recent weeks. Risers show up in the biggest game and his defining moment came on the big stage against the best defense that he will play all year.

Aiyuk showed his abilities as one of the premier vertical threats in this game as he capped off the Oregon game with a double move that saw him go 81 yards for a touchdown. He is more than a vertical threat though and has shown that all season.

Aiyuk shows good foot quickness when winning at the line of scrimmage which is good for him as teams will try to combat his deep threat abilities by trying to apply some resistance with press coverage. He has good speed to create separation as a vertical threat on go routes and posts. His route running abilities are solid as he is able to create good separation in the intermediate area of the field as well, making corners respect his double moves and not just play over the top of him all game.

He shows good hands to pluck the football out of the air and not be a guy who is a double catcher. His hands are also trusted by his coaches as he is used a return specialist who shows good ability to pick up yards in the return game. He translates those abilities into his abilities as a very good yards after the catch receiver, turning himself into a threat once the ball is in his hands.

He will need to prove that he has enough quickness to effectively separate consistently in the intermediate area of the field against corners he won’t be able to beat vertically. The senior Sun Devil needs to show more body control and trust his hands to reach outside of his frame instead of letting the ball get on his body. Brandon Aiyuk has elevated his stock and has a chance to push himself into the second round as a versatile prospect who provides deep threat production and solid skills as a returner.
