Scouting Report

The Jedrick Wills hype has been fun to watch in recent weeks. A guy who wasn’t thought of much earlier in the season is now starting to overshadow his teammate Alex Leatherwood who was probably the biggest riser at the position for the month of October. Jedrick Wills has risen himself all the way into the first round of the draft after being unheralded coming into the season.

He is a very good athlete in a well put together 6’5” and 320lb frame. His foot quickness is what’s most impressive as he continuously shows the ability to be light on his feet and change directions. Can mirror pass rushers with ease as he plays in a good stance that allows him to tap into his quickness without losing balance.

He uses his agility to his advantage when blocking in space at the 2nd level to capture linebackers and safeties without allowing them to slip him. Once he gets his hands on you it is most certainly over as he has incredible strength. Wills uses that strength to finish blocks through the echo of the whistle and show a mean streak to his game. Matching that level of strength with very good athleticism is a dangerous combination that has caused his stock to soar.

He needs to be more assertive in some of his pass sets as he will rely on his strength too much and let pass rushers get into his body. He needs to shoot his hands faster and trust his really good hand strength to improve his timing on his punches so that they are in sync with his lower half. Overall, Jedrick Wills Jr. is a guy who has earned himself the right to be in the Top-15 conversation of the draft in a top-heavy class of offensive tackles.
