2019 Iron Bowl: 19 2020 NFL Draft prospects to watch from Alabama vs. Auburn
By Joseph Yun
The battle of the offensive lines is quite a good one between these two teams as expected. Several are projected to be high draft picks in the 2020 NFL Draft.
70 Alex Leatherwood 6’6 310 OT Junior Alabama
Leatherwood is one of the best tackles in the country. He can move very well laterally in space, which is a must against bendy speed edge rushers. He’s improved on technique a bit more this season so far after relying on just brute strength in years past. A former five star recruit that was recruited by Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal. He starts at left tackle but has shown ability to play guard in a pinch if necessary. It remains to be seen if he declares for the draft as a true junior.
76 Prince Tega-Wanogho 6’7 305 OT RS Senior Auburn
Wanogho has been a rapid riser up the boards since last season. He has a lot of athletic talent but hasn’t played organized football for all that long, only picking it up in high school. PTW can move well enough to pull and trap wit the best of them. He anchors very well and keeps his footwork very choppy. He was among the first players to accept his Senior Bowl invitation. Gongi up against that monster defensive line in practice every day has helped him immensely.
74 Jedrick Wills 6’5 316 OT Junior Alabama
Wills is the starter at right tackle for the Tide. He’s a road grader type that relies on brute strength instead of footwork and lateral quickness. It remains to be seen if he declares as a junior or comes back to the be left tackle as a senior pending Leatherwood’s departure.
69 Landon Dickerson 6’6 308 OL Graduate Transfer Alabama
Dickerson is an intriguing prospect in that he has had severe injury issues at Florida State before transferring to Alabama. He was originally projected to start at right guard before moving to center due to injury at the position during the season. The medical will be huge for him in order to get drafted. The versatility will get him a camp tryout somewhere. He was a pretty talented guard but was always injured at Florida State.
71 Jack Driscoll 6’5 296 OT Graduate Transfer Auburn
Driscoll has been the starter at right tackle for the Tigers since he transferred in from UMASS. He has gotten some hype but has been a reliable if not flashy starter for Auburn. It will be interesting if he gets invited somewhere.
