Scouting Report

Ian Book has struggled to find himself as a draftable quarterback this year. There are concerns about his natural feel for the position. Saturday was a solid showing for him that helped raise his stock a little as a guy who has been inconsistent. His arm strength is solid to push the ball over the middle of the field consistently and hit tight ends.

There’s an intriguing amount of athleticism to his game as a guy who can create for himself when the pocket breaks down. He has to fix his footwork if he’s going to be able to get the most out of an arm that isn’t overly strong. He is guy who his teammates around the program loves him which helps paint a picture of the kind of leader he is as well.

More consistent play would help Book as he tries to find a niche in a good quarterback class and is currently on the outside looking in. Ian Book still has at least one more game left to prove he has some traits as a quarterback prospect and Saturday was a game he can put in his back pocket as good film; a step in the right direction for him.
