TCU wide receiver Jalen Reagor declares for 2020 NFL Draft
By Seth Steere
Jalen Reagor took to twitter today — December 1st, 2019 — to announce his decision to leave TCU and enter the 2020 NFL draft.
The 2020 wide receiver class appears to be one of the deepest at its position that we have seen in since the 2014 class and it just got better with Jalen Reagor’s declaration. Reagor is a wide receiver for the TCU Horned Frogs and he officially announced he would enter the 2020 NFL Draft on twitter — as most athletes do nowadays.
Reagor is a true junior so he holds the option to forgo his senior season, but that appears not to be the case; he has gotten some hype as a potential first-rounder because of his elite long speed. When NFL evaluators are looking for first-round players they often look for elite traits and Reagor certainly has that. Speed is not something you can teach and Reagor has a whole lot of it.
With the way the NFL has progressed on the offensive side of the ball, teams are looking to spread things out, allowing their playmakers to operate in space. If Reagor has even the slightest bit of room to work he can make defenders look foolish with his ability to eliminate pursuit angles. The Athletics draft analyst, Dane Brugler, has even compared him to Brandin Cooks of the Los Angeles Rams.
A tad undersized — 5’11” 195 pounds — Reagor will mostly run his routes from the slot position as opposed to the outside, but that doesn’t take much away from his value. Nearly every team in the NFL is looking for a guy who can make plays out of the inside receiver position and Reagor is just that.
Reagor may not be a lock for the first round with the depth of the position being so deep, but you can pretty much guarantee he will be selected in the top 50. Nothing is guaranteed in the NFL Draft, but it’s not every day we see a player with the speed and playmaking ability that Reagor possesses.
