Jordan Love has unteachable physical tools, but must progress in the mental part of the game to become a successful NFL quarterback.

There is no doubting the raw physical ability that Jordan Love possesses. He has a terrific arm, is an accurate passer, and can run if necessary. However, he is also prone to awful throws going at his first read, no matter the defense.

The arm will certainly get NFL head coaches drooling, so the question will be whether or not they draft him highly hoping they can develop the mental part of the game. If he can progress in that area, his ceiling is as high as any quarterback in the class. If he tries to rely solely on art talent, he’ll wash out of the league.

Outside of the top three passers in this class, another QB will likely sneak into round one. It’s the nature of the position. Love could be that guy. However, that will be a risky pick. Love’s tendency to throw interceptable balls because he won’t go past his first read is a major problem. He’s a round three quarterback likely to go much earlier than that.

Stay tuned.
