For the sixth year in a row Clemson win the in-state rivalry against South Carolina and several Tigers continue to raise their 2020 NFL Draft stock.

Unlike the Georgia Bulldogs, Clemson was able to get out of South Carolina with a win and they showed no signs of weakness in their slaughtering of the Gamecocks. Clemson won the game 38-3 and showed no signs of struggle; several highly touted 2020 NFL Draft prospects not only made stepped-up, but they help their draft stock.

Scouting Report

If you’re just looking at the box score, Travis Etienne didn’t have the most dominant game; he finished with 15 carries for 57 yards and 2 touchdowns. Where he did help his draft stock is through the air, no he wasn’t throwing the ball, but he was on the receiving end.

Heading into the year there were concerns on whether or not he could be a receiving threat out of the backfield and against South Carolina he helped put those concerns to rest. He totaled 3 receptions for 37 yards.

Etienne doesn’t have to put up enormous numbers in the receiving category, but he needs to prove that he can catch the ball and he did so against the Gamecocks. Sure, he didn’t have 10 receptions, but that’s not what scouts and general managers need to see, they just need to know that he can be a threat out of the backfield and with all the weapons that Clemson has on offense it’s unlikely he’ll ever reach that feat, to begin with.

Travis Etienne is a big play waiting to happen and with his improvements in the passing game, the possibility of him being selected in the first round is bound to increase.
