Wisconsin hands Minnesota their second loss in 3 weeks and kills there title hopes with several players stepping up and raising their 2020 NFL Draft stock.

College Gameday was in Minneapolis for the first time ever and perhaps they brought bad luck with them. Many of the well-known names on the Minnesota roster struggled to make their presence known, but on the other side of the field, several Wisconsin players rose up to occasion. Wisconsin won the game 38-17 with the following players stepping up and making big plays in key moments, and thus improving their 2020 NFL Draft stock.

Scouting Report

Wisconsin isn’t a team that is going to beat you through the air, especially in the conditions that the two teams played in on Saturday. However, the Badgers did air it out several times; Wisconsin’s quarterback — Jack Cohn — had 280 yards through the air and 114 of those yards went to junior receiver Quintez Cephus. Cohn also threw for 2 touchdowns and Cephus was on the other end of one them.

Cephus’ biggest play of the game came on a seam route from the slot position, he was able to beat his man over the top with his speed and secure the catch despite the windy and snowy conditions.

As you can see from the above video, Wisconsin does a great job of getting Cephus in a mismatch and lining him up against a linebacker. Cephus is too fast for the linebacker and quickly gets over the top, but when he does he starts to bend his route to the inside away from the safety and maintaining separation.

Cephus has had to fight an uphill battle during his time in Wisconsin. He was released from the team because of some legal issues, but after being declared not-guilty he was able to return to the field. It is unclear whether he will enter the draft this year, but after his performance against Minnesota, he definitely raised his draft stock.
