There is a reason Ohio State is ranked number one at the moment. And JK Dobbins is a huge part of the Buckeyes’ success this season. He was a workhorse again versus Michigan with 31 rushing attempts, over 200 yards, and four total touchdowns on the day. It was easily his most productive day of the year in what has been an insanely productive year for Dobbins.
On the year, Dobbins rushed for fourth-most rushing yards and fifth-most rushing touchdowns in the country. Those stats are great and all, but what makes him ranked higher than the other running backs on this list who have better stats?
Well, as mentioned above, Dobbins has been instrumental in helping his team win and get to the number one ranking they currently enjoy. Another huge reason is the fact that all of his biggest statistical games this year have also come in Ohio State’s biggest games. In other words, he shines in the brightest lights.
Dobbins will look to improve his Heisman candidacy even more this weekend in the Big Ten Championship against 12th-ranked Wisconsin. It will be the second showdown of the season between two premier running backs and Heisman Trophy candidates in Dobbins and Jonathan Taylor. Dobbins will look to get the better of the matchup once again and lead his team to victory and secure a spot in the College Football Playoff.
