The best word to describe Joe Burrow and LSU’s 2019 season might just be magical. The improvement Burrow showed in nearly all areas from last season to this season was nothing short of incredible. He has helped lead his team to an undefeated season that included an unbelievable four wins over Top Ten-ranked opponents.
Burrow put together another very strong performance against Texas A&M last week tallying over 350 passing yards and three touchdowns in his last game at Death Valley. On the season, he accounted for over 4,500 total yards and 47 total touchdowns. His passing numbers put him amongst the leaders in nearly every single category possible. Not to mention his 47 total touchdowns ranks second in the nation behind only Jalen Hurts.
His incredible stats, along with the fact that his LSU team has a legitimate argument as being the best team in college football, all but guarantees Burrow the Heisman Trophy at this point. It would take something incredibly unbelievable to Burrow not to take home the award next week.
Joe Burrow will have one last chance to completely solidify himself as the likely Heisman Trophy winner in 2019 when he leads his Tigers against 4th-ranked Georgia in the SEC Conference Championship on Saturday. A win would guarantee LSU’s spot amongst the four teams in the College Football Playoff and solidify Burrow’s spot in LSU football lore forever.
